Yosemite National Park: Go with Kids and Have Fun

Even before its inception in 1890, Yosemite National Park has been popular with tourists and visitors. Today, the park remains a tourist attraction in the Sierra Nevada, especially for families with young children. Once your child has reached the age where he begins to develop an appreciation of things, bring to Yosemite. There are lots of great pleasure that awaits children in this environment dramatically. Here are some samplings of what you and your family can expect:

Learning about friends of animals
Children who love animals and are interested in wildlife will enjoy many of the programs currently available in Yosemite. There is a program of pre-school called the "Wee Wild Ones" that the park that teaches children about animals through stories, games, songs and crafts. This program is designed for children 6 and under. Admission is free.

Become a Junior Ranger
If your child is a born explorer, why does not he up for the program called Junior Yosemite Park Ranger? This program is designed for children aged 7 to 13, although younger ages 3 to 6 can join the cubs. The program teaches children about the value and importance of the environment with related activities. Junior Ranger Walk (guided tour lasts an hour) is in summer.

Exploring
If you're visiting Yosemite in summer, bring your kids to Happy Isles. This center is the nature park, where children can learn about native species of animals living in the region. There are also activities organized by park rangers. Rangers lead the child walks through and enable them to participate in activities during a Campout.

If you prefer to participate actively to help your child discover the beauty of Yosemite, to take them for short walks. Yosemite Valley is a good site for this purpose because many trails found here are designed for exploration of the family. Use a guide to identify elements that you encounter during the trek.

Enjoying point of view
Yosemite offers an alternative way to allow children to enjoy the landscape through a kid friendly train. It is known as the railway pine sugar and it passes through the Yosemite forest. You can choose between car jenny and the steam train.

Discover the history
Yosemite offers a valuable history lesson for young children and adolescents. Take your kids to Yosemite Museum to see exhibits and let learn on Indian culture in North America thanks to Indian cultural exposure. The Ahwahnee, an Indian village, is just behind the Yosemite Museum. It showcases the culture and traditions of the Miwok and Paiute people.

Showing the artist in your child
Yosemite is so magnificent in its sheer beauty and majesty that it could never fail to awaken the artistic fiber of your child. For children who have been Dabbling in the arts or those wishing to explore their creativity, a visit to Yosemite may be the only opportunity for them to do that. At Visit Yosemite, bring a camera or a painting material. Then, leave your child's imagination run free.
